| Statement of Purpose: | 515 Minnesota statutes discriminate against unmarried couples – even those who have made a long-time commitment to each other. The discrimination built into Minnesota laws is far-reaching, affecting medical care, employment, public pensions and other basic rights married couples take for granted. Project 515 is a new, non-profit organization created to raise awareness of how Minnesota laws are discriminating against some families and committed partners and to ensure that same-sex couples and their families are treated fairly and equally under Minnesota law. Project 515 is a focused initiative with a specific, achievable goal: to ensure that same sex couples and their families have equal rights and considerations under Minnesota law. |
