The Woman’s Club and the College of St. Catherine hosted a social event for retired and active professional women on a warm Wednesday night in May. Attendees were asked to bring a new or nearly new piece of business clothing to donate to low-income women entering the workforce. Many attendees arrived early in order to hear a talk by Roxanne Emmerich, author of Thank Got It’s Monday! She spoke in an elegant room adorned with a large crystal chandelier. Her talk was genuinely inspiring, and, after the talk, guests waited in a long line to have her sign books for them. The women gradually made their way upstairs to the classically beautiful function rooms with huge windows overlooking Loring Park. They drank wine, ate appetizers, and enjoyed each other’s company. In one corner, a manicurist from the Woman’s Club gave hand massages.
